On behalf of the Graduate Medical Education Team, welcome to the website of McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. Located in beautiful Chicago along the shores of Lake Michigan, we are one of the largest graduate medical education institutions in the country. Our consortium of world-class clinical affiliates, together with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, provides advanced healthcare to the communities and patients we serve in a variety of diverse settings.
McGaw’s member institutions and affiliates include top-ranked urban, suburban, specialized and general hospitals such as our US News Honor Roll-recognized partners Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Our Graduate Medical Education Office provides training to more than 1,100 residents and fellows enrolled in more than 200 ACGME-accredited and non-accredited programs.
I take great pride in working to foster a culture of safe learning to ensure the education of skilled, compassionate medical professionals dedicated to the highest possible standards of patient care. We train tomorrow’s healthcare leaders, and our team works collectively to ensure the success of all of our residents and fellows in their time at McGaw and beyond.
In addition to our training and patient care missions, our steadfast commitment to innovation and scientific research on our academic medical campus is evident in Feinberg’s top rankings for NIH funding, our breakthrough discoveries, and the development of the Louis A. Simpson and Kimberly K. Querrey Biomedical Research Center on our downtown campus. With its first phase projected to open in late 2018, we will more than triple the space dedicated to scientific inquiry on the Chicago campus.
I invite you to learn more about McGaw’s uniquely integrated system and the exceptional programs we offer. We promise extraordinary training experiences in a dynamic and energetic global city that offers residents and fellows a diversity of patients, training experiences, neighborhoods, and cultural activities. We hope you will consider joining us at McGaw for the next exciting phase of your medical training. Please contact us for more information.
